I have been on the Gautrain on Sunday 13 June 2010. I saw a lot of things that I liked and not many things that I didn’t like. However as a website developer, who am I to comment on the Gautrain. What I would like to comment on is their website. http://www.gautrain.co.za/
I had high hopes for the Gautrain website. And it fell flat in many places.
Updated : This has been fixed.
Firstly a silly thing, on the front page:

You have to click on the arrow, you can’t click on the commuters text or the image. That is just silly, how much extra coding would that have taken? Not much. You are developing for a wide range of audience. They are used to clicking on the text and not on an arrow. Make all three sections go to the next page.
Then on the next page, http://join.gautrain.co.za/map.aspx my wife wanted me to print the Station info and timetable, which when you print, comes out like this. They have pdfs of other things, why not of this?

SO then I decided I would go to this page http://join.gautrain.co.za/Timetables.aspx to get the durations of the trains. It prints like this.

Now we were very excited and we decided to just go to Marlboro and figure it out. It worked fine and the people at the station we very friendly. It was very very cool. I would have liked the website to be better though.
I assume like the Gautrain, the website is a work in progress. Please guys could you make it a bit better?
Thanks for listening.
