After a while of being the same Twitter, they are rolling out some big changes. Now being in South Africa, we get updates and changes later than the rest of the more important parts of the world. When we can finally test it, we can give you a better idea of what it is all about.
As far as I can see is that they are making Twitter more central to the whole process of getting news out. If you tweet a link of a photo it shows it on the right hand side of your profile. This changes the way that Twitter essentially works. Normally companies like Twitpic would have lots of traffic from Twitter and you would see their adverts. So if you went to this picture on Twitpic http://twitpic.com/2mty7m you would see an advert on the right hand side.

Now I spoke about the way that Twitter was changing their links and might piss people off here : http://outsourcehouse.co.za/2010/06/09/twitter-tests-its-own-url-shortener/ Might this do the same? If those companies stop getting advertising from all the traffic from Twitter, will they shut down and will we then loose all the images that have been posted.
But I digress. The new design and functionality for Twitter looks amazing. This video gives you a brief idea of what it will look like when it is rolled out to more people than just the USA.
It is a bit of weird video and really starts giving you a look at the new design round about 1:09, so hang in there.
