Which is the best WYSIWYG editor?

So we have looked at quite a few DMXzone extensions. We look at them because; firstly they are really good and secondly, we have an interest in extensions for Dreamweaver, and also and this is the important part; Web Developers often ask us how to do things and what tools we use.

So there was an “Advanced HTML Editor 2”, even though this was good, it was updated and now is really powerful. And much easier to use.

What can the WYSIWYG do?

Well the cool thing is that in Dreamweaver is shows how it is going to look. This allows you to design and develop your website and not have to test it all the time to see how it looks.

The other thing that it gives you is options for the WYSIWYG including the width and height. There also the option of changing skins here.

Skins

You can change the skins right in Dreamweaver.

So why would you want to change the skins? Well let’s say your client has a dark website.

Default skin on a dark background

This will look strange with the default skin. This looks much better.

Power, yet control.

So your clients want to have a whole lot of control over their content, that is fine, but there might come a time when you want to restrict what they can do. This page is then for you.

You can deselect any tools you don’t want your clients to use.

So what else can it do?

Well it can do all the normal things.

You can change fonts and font size and change the format to H1 and H2…

You can change font colour, background colour

Well this is fairly normal, so what else…This is where it starts getting interesting.

WYSIWYG Image upload and resize

Here you you can upload images into a folder that you have specified. It will resize the image for you and then display it.

Next week the guys @ DMXzone will be releasing the gallery for this extension. This will allow you to be able to select the images from the server. ****shhhhh***** no-one knows about the release yet, so we are not really allowed to tell you… But we are not scared. :-)

Now this comes in PHP and ASP.

So where do we get this?

Lazy are we? Ok, here you go. Get the bundles down below.

Hope that helps you in your development of websites with a WYSIWYG editor.
